ROCKSTAR'S COVID-SECURE WINTER BOULDERING LEAGUE
The Rockstar Winter Accumulator 2020
Round 4 is cancelled! Round 5 commences 2nd to 9th Feb 2021.
Well, Swindon's latest Tier 4 status has put the brakes on Round 4 so regrettably we must announce that this round has now been cancelled.
Instead Round 5 will commence from 2nd February to 9th February 2021.
This means that there are only two more rounds left in this current Winter Accumulator. Time to push that little bit further folks!
Here's everything you need to know about The Rockstar Winter Accumulator 2020
6 Accumulator Round Dates & Format
We have six awesome round dates scheduled starting 29th September 2020 and concluding 9th March 2021.
Each round will be open for one week, meaning you can come and climb the Accumulator routes for that round anytime during the week.
Each round will consist of 30 fantastic boulder problems plus 1 bonus problem with each bloc being worth progressive points up to a maximum of 50 points at the top. All rounds in the Winter Accumulator will be Redpoint format, meaning you can have as many attempts at a boulder problem as you wish - your highest score is the one you mark down on your scorecard. The maximum points up for grabs on each round is 1500 points!
To take part in the Winter Accumulator you simply need to book in as a casual climber via our website and order your Scorecard online which you can collect from reception at Building 5 - you can purchase your scorecard online too when you book in. You'll then have a week to attempt/work as many of our 31 Accumulator blocs as possible to improve your score for that Round. However, please ensure your scorecard for that Round is handed back in at our Reception by 5pm on the closing date for that round, otherwise your scorecard won't be counted!
You don't have to attend all the Accumulator rounds but the more rounds you can make the more points you'll earn! Points earned from each round will be added to your running total to give you an overall league ranking. We will then keep a Leaderboard below so everyone can see their progress!
There will be a finals round - Round 7 - the date of which will be announced in due course.
Rules & Scoring
A "Redpoint format" means you can have as many attempts at each boulder problem as you wish during the week of that Round. All attempts must start from the ground and from the marked starting holds. The score of the highest hold you reach is awarded to you but it must be held in a controlled manner.
The highest score for each problem is 50 points and each hold deducts in points value from there. It is well worth trying every problem no matter your ability as just pulling onto the starting holds will score you points!
For your score to count you must:
Climb from the starting holds marked with coloured bolts or screws
Use only the holds that form part of that route (wooden volumes are in)
Match the finishing hold with both hands for 50 points
The use of bolt holes is not permitted
You will have 1 week to attempt/work all 30 Accumulator problems. Starting times will be written on your scorecard when you collect it from our Reception at Building 5, and your scorecard must be handed back in by 5pm on the last date of the Round. Scorecards handed in after 5pm on the last date won't be counted - sorry!
