Tuesday to Friday - 1.00pm to 10.00pm

Saturday & Sunday - 10.00am to 6.00pm

Monday - 5.00pm to 10.00pm

Tuesday to Friday - 1.00pm to 10.00pm

Saturday & Sunday - 10.00am to 6.00pm

We will be advising all visitors to wash their hands on arrival and on leaving Rockstar. We will also have hand hygiene stations around the centre for customers to use.

Customers are encouraged to also bring their own sanitiser/gel/wipes to use during their visit.

Our staff will regularly clean high traffic areas such as WCs, changing rooms, railings, door handles, reception, etc. to increase levels of hygiene throughout the Centre.

All climbers and spectators must check-in at Rockstar Building 5 on arrival, even if you intend to boulder at Building 3.

Please observe our social distancing markers at Reception when checking-in and please help our staff by being patient whilst we check our customers in as quickly as possible.

Whilst climbing we ask all our customers to be concious of social spacing and self-police to help other customers enjoy their session.

To assist our customers in maintaining safe social distancing at Rockstar we are putting in place measures that allow us to safely monitor and manage numbers within our venue.

We have calculated capacity limits for Building 3, Building 5, Fun Walls, our Crux Cafe and other social spaces to give our customers confidence to return to climbing at Rockstar.

    More details are provided below.

To help minimise the risk of contamination we will be operating cashless transactions at Building 3, Building 5 and the Crux Cafe.

We will continue to support most major debit/credit cards and the contactless limit has now been increased to £45.00.

We are working to the latest Government guidelines and following advice from the Association of British Climbing Walls (ABC) so that we can deliver our fantastic Junior/Youth climbing sessions, adult courses and Fun Walls sessions and so you can book with confidence.

Find out below how we are delivering Covid-Secure courses and sessions including working with the new 'Rule of Six' law.

Wearing of face masks now mandatory in social areas

Following the latest Government ruling, please be advised that the wearing of face masks is now mandatory in all our social areas at Rockstar Climbing.

Our social areas are defined as our Reception area at Rockstar Building 5 plus also seating areas in our Crux Cafe and in our Rockstar Building 3 seating area.

If you are climbing either casually or as part of an instructed session, or you are eating/drinking in our Crux Cafe, then face masks do not need to be worn.

Temporary changes to our regular opening hours

From 1st August to 1st October we will be operating slightly different opening hours to normal. These are a temporary measure to allow us to continue essential staff and instructor training after the lockdown and clear our backlog of booked sessions and courses.  We intend to return to our normal hours on the 1st October 2020, however, this is largely dependent on further easing on lockdown restrictions.  We will keep updating as we head towards this date.

From 1st August to 1st October our opening hours are as follows:

Monday - CLOSED

Tuesday to Friday - 1.00pm to 10.00pm

Saturday & Sunday - 10.00am to 6.00pm

From 1st October onwards (under regular review):

Monday - 5.00pm to 10.00pm

Tuesday to Friday - 1.00pm to 10.00pm

Saturday & Sunday - 10.00am to 6.00pm

Rockstar Climbing's new hygiene policy

As part of our operational procedures following lockdown we have introduced new hygiene guidelines at Rockstar Climbing. Some of these changes are enhancements to our existing internal health and hygiene policy and others are in place for our customers wellbeing.

We believe that our new hygiene guidelines are a great step forward in providing our customers with the confidence to climb at Rockstar but also will provide a cleaner and nicer environment ongoing for both our community and staff.

Customers will be advised to wash/sanitise hands on arrival and on leaving Rockstar and we will have hand hygiene stations around Building 3 and Building 5 for intermittent hand cleaning as well as our usual soap dispensers in the WCs. Staff will also be cleaning high traffic areas on a regular basis such as WCs, doors, changing rooms, reception areas, etc.

Customers are encouraged to also bring their own hand sanitiser to help reduce the impact on us as a Centre, needless to say soap and gel is expensive!

Social distancing

For a period of time following on from our reopening we will have to adhere to certain procedures to help our climbers and staff maintain safe social distancing rules.  To assist with this all climbers and spectators will be required to check-in at Rockstar Building 5 where it is easier for us to implement social distancing measures at Reception.

Customers who wish to Boulder at Building 3 must check-in at Building 5 first and will be given a ticket to present at Building 3 Reception.

Whilst climbing we ask all our customers to be concious of social spacing and self-police to help other customers enjoy their session. There will be some markers on the floors and posters around the Centre to remind customers to be vigilant.

We understand that social distancing rules will make things harder for our staff and can take longer to process customers at reception as a result. Obviously this isn't going to be easy for our team and we ask our amazing customers for a little extra patience on arrival.

Capacity Management

To assist our customers in maintaining safe social distancing at Rockstar we are putting in place measures that allow us to safely monitor and manage numbers within our venue.  The maximum capacity we are allowed in various social spaces at Rockstar varies from space-to-space and we have confidently calculated capacity limits at Building 3, Building 5, Fun Walls, our Crux Cafe and other social spaces.

To allow us to safely manage capacity in our various spaces the measures we are implementing include:

Online booking of casual climbing slots;

Additional staff training to proactively manage capacity at all times;

Real-time data view on Reception for staff to see current capacity;

Online data view for customers to see current capacity.

These measures are designed to assist customers in maintaining safe social distancing, however, they do still rely on customers self-policing and compromise especially in areas which are hard for us to police permanently (such as WCs).

We have calculated our capacities based on advice from Public Health England and checked that with reasonable customer self-policing and compromise, you can climb comfortably and safely at Rockstar and remain a safe distance away from others.

Cashless transactions

Businesses are being advised to minimise cash handling as much as possible in order to help protect both staff and customers and reduce the risk of cross contamination.

To do our bit we are opting to make Rockstar a cashless business (for a while at least) and we hope that this will be welcomed by our customers.

All purchases can be made in Building 3, Building 5 and our Crux Cafe using a debit or credit card and our contactless limit has been increased to £45.00 to make things easier.

Covid-Secure Instructed Sessions, Courses & Fun Walls

We have been working hard to bring back our hugely popular coaching sessions and courses for our Juniors, Teens and Adults from September and beyond. We are super-excited to resume our normal schedule and have made some changes to ensure all our instructor lead sessions are fun, engaging and safe so you can book with confidence.

In conjunction with the Association of British Climbing Walls (ABC) and the BMC (British Mountaineering Council) and working directly with the latest guidance from the Government we have trained our team of professional Coaches and Instructors to deliver Covid-Secure coaching sessions, including adhering to the new 'Rule of Six' law.

All our Junior, Youth and Adults sessions, courses and climbing terms are all now available to book online or directly at our Centre until Summer 2021!

All our sessions and courses are running with reduced capacity to maintain social distancing and adhere to new laws regarding the 'Rule of Six' so spaces will fill up quicker.  We recommend booking now to guarantee your spaces.

Chalk usage - liquid or powder?

There has been quite a bit of discussion across the climbing industry on whether liquid chalk is better than loose/powdered chalk for hygiene. The overall consensus is that there is no scientific data to suggest liquid chalk is more hygienic or that powdered chalk can carry airborne contaminates.

Our recommendation at Rockstar for all our climbers will be that if you have liquid chalk and wish to use it that's great but powdered chalk can be used too, we just ask you keep any chalk usage to a minimum and aim to wash your hands periodically during your session and avoid putting hands or climbing equipment/ropes in or near your mouth.
We will continue to stock and sell loose chalk, chalk balls and liquid chalk as normal in both Building 3 and Building 5.

The Crux Cafe

Our Crux Cafe will be open during our opening hours with our full menu of hot/cold drinks, smoothies, shakes, pizzas, 7a brownies and much more... all available as normal.

We have brand new seating on our cafe mezzanine including a fantastic new breakfast bar with power and USB ports for you to enjoy, or alternatively a takeaway service is also available for our full menu if you prefer.

Test and Trace

We have introduced a Test and Trace policy for all visitors on arrival to Rockstar Climbing and this currently a mandatory requirement following the latest Government ruling.

When checking in at Rockstar our team will invite you to complete your name, contact number and date of your visit on a Test and Trace slip unique for each visitor.

We are very mindful of GDPR and these slips will be sealed and stored for a period of 21 days after which point they will be destroyed.  Any data will only be shared with official sources if we are required to do so by law.

We are passionate about climbing and advocates of all the amazing benefits climbing brings regardless of age, ability or background. We are all climbers doing what we love, come and join us!
