THREE GREAT CENTRES.

ONE AWESOME COMMUNITY.

FLASHPOINT SWINDON & FREEDOG SWINDON JOIN THE ROCKSTAR CLIMBING FAMILY

We’ve put together some helpful answers to questions you might have about the recent announcement

Today marks a major milestone in Rockstar’s journey, we’re incredibly excited to let you know that Freedog Swindon and Flashpoint Swindon have now joined the Rockstar Climbing Family.

This may come as a surprise, but it’s something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while, and we’re thrilled to finally be able to tell you. This is a big moment for all of us and one that opens the door to some exciting opportunities ahead.

By bringing Rockstar, Flashpoint and Freedog together, we’re uniting two brilliant climbing communities and those with a touch of adventure within. We’re no longer competitors, we’re becoming one stronger, more connected team with a shared vision for what climbing and fun in Swindon can be.

This is an exciting step, and we’re committed to keeping our community informed as we go through this transition together.

General FAQ

  • Our centres share a passion for climbing and adventure, great customer experiences, and community. By coming together, we’re building something stronger – with more space, more expertise, and more opportunities for climbers of all levels and mini adventurers across Swindon.

This change only effects the Swindon based Flashpoint and Freedog facilities. All other sites will remain part of the flashpoint group.

  • All staff are being welcomed into the Rockstar team. We’re bringing the teams together to share skills, ideas, and experience – with a focus on community and collaboration.

If you are looking for current available roles, you can find them here.

  • All three centres will remain open and active – there are no closures planned. Over the coming weeks, you’ll start to see some visual changes as the Flashpoint and Freedog Swindon brand gradually transitions to become part of the Rockstar Climbing family.

We’re taking time to understand what works well and how best to support all the unique elements of each site.

This is part of bringing our teams and community together under one shared identity. Behind the scenes, we’ll also be exploring how our centres can best support one another and grow as a connected group.

  • We’ve planned a transition period of around three months, during which there will be minimal visible change. This allows both teams time to align, collaborate, and plan the best possible experience going forward.

  • We’ll be making some small tweaks to opening hours soon to improve operations and support both our teams better. These changes shouldn’t impact your regular climbing or adventure routine – and we’ll communicate any updates in advance.

  • Feel free to speak with any member of staff at either site, or you can email us directly at:

We’ll keep this FAQ updated as things develop – and we’ll always aim to be open and transparent with our community.

Flashpoint FAQ

  • Yes. As part of aligning Rockstar Climbing and Flashpoint Swindon, we’re moving to a new VIP Membership that gives you access across both sites with more value and flexibility. To ensure zero disruption, all members will need to transition to the new membership by 31st August. This is not automatic – you’ll need to sign up either online or at reception. Any future adjustments to pricing or benefits will always be communicated clearly and with member value and fairness in mind.

  • Not at the moment. To access both Rockstar Climbing (IO) and Rockstar Bouldering (Techno), you’ll need to upgrade to the new VIP Membership. Your current membership only applies to your original home centre.

  • Existing punch cards can only be used at Flashpoint until 31st August. From 1st September, all remaining punches will be converted onto Rockstar’s system, and at that point they can be used across both sites.

  • Youth sessions will continue as normal, though some timetable adjustments are being made to bring both centres in line. Parents of Techno (formerly Flashpoint) NIBAS students have already been emailed with details of the updated times and session lengths. Competitions and adult classes are unaffected and will run as planned. Any future changes will always be communicated well in advance.

  • There won’t be any immediate changes. Impact will continue setting until 1st September while we focus on building a strong in-house setting team through training and recruitment. From September, you can look forward to more frequent setting, a greater variety of boulders and routes, and some fantastic events to match!

  • All existing party or group bookings will continue as planned. If anything does change, we’ll be in touch directly. Our aim is to enhance what’s already great, not take anything away.

  • If you have a Flashpoint Swindon membership which allows the use of multi-sites, but Swindon is your home site, this will no longer be valid at other Flashpoint sites after the 31st August.

Our membership options are now available online.

  • Gift Cards purchased at the Swindon site, will continue to be honoured until their expiry.

  • Absolutely – we were dog-friendly before, nothing is changing! We love well-behaved crag dogs, so feel free to bring them along (just make sure they stay on lead and off the mats.
